Satellite Applications Catapult (SAC) is at the heart of the satellite services revolution, driving take-up of space technology and applications to shape, and sustain, the world of tomorrow. SAC help organisations make use of, and benefit from, satellite technologies, and bring together multi-disciplinary teams to generate ideas and solutions in an open innovation environment.
UK Space Agency is responsible for the whole of the UK space activities. The UK Space Agency works to maximise UK benefits from space activities and ensure the UK remains at the forefront of global scientific excellence as well as in the exploration of space infrastructure, products and services.
The Brief
IOSM 2024 was forged from a collaboration between SAC and the UK Space Agency. SAC and the UK Space Agency wanted to create an event that would bring together experts from the global In-Orbit Servicing and Manufacturing industry and provide insight into the crucial roles of investment, education and training, sustainability, and risk and regulation for the IOSM industry.
IOSM 2024 was to be held over two days in the purpose-built ESA conference centre in Harwell, Oxfordshire. Given the high ambition and scope for this event, Compleat were asked to support the team with the planning, coordination and execution of this event.
The Solution
Microsite and Attendee Registration: On behalf of SAC and the UK Space Agency, Compleat developed a microsite, a professionally branded platform for all event information such as speaker bios, photos and the event agenda, ensuring everything was held in one central location.
Online Registration: In addition to the microsite, Compleat produced an online, user-friendly registration form, tailored to the branding of IOSM and ensured all the correct information was collected from attendees prior to the event.
Speaker Management: With 80 speaker presentations over the two days the Compleat team coordinated the process to ensure bios and photos were gathered, speakers were provided with all the information required to present, gathering presentations, permissions, welcoming and ensuring they had all they required on the day.
On-site Coordination: Heather, Lisa and Georgina were on site for the duration of the event, supporting the SAC event team with pre-event set up and preparations and on the day coordination.
High Security: The ESA venue required a high level of security and the Compleat team worked closely with the venue team to ensure these requirements were met.
The Result
With 80 expert speakers, including representatives from the UK and US space agencies, this conference was a must-attend event for professionals across the space industry.
High Attendance: The event sold out weeks before taking place and attracted over 290 attendees over the two days. This created a vibrant atmosphere and allowed for valuable networking opportunities.
Attendee Feedback: The event achieved remarkable success and therefore there is scope to make this a reoccurring conference, on a larger scale.
Conclusions
In conclusion, the event not only achieved its immediate goals but established a strong foundation for continued growth and innovation. Compleat were delighted to support SAC and the UK Space Agency on this innovate event.
Testimonial
“The Satellite Applications Catapult worked with Compleat Group to run the inaugural UK IOSM Conference. Together, we produced a hugely successful international conference for over 250 delegates in just four months. Compleat Group managed our speakers, exhibitors and attendees, they built and maintained our conference website and worked with us to deliver the event days themselves. They were a pleasure to work with, always supportive and on-call, and they ensured that the conference went without a hitch. We’d be very happy to recommend them.”
