This is a story I read many years’ ago but it has stayed with me ever since and feels very relevant today:
There are two men walking along a beach at dawn and there are hundreds and thousands of starfish washed up on the shore. Every now and again, the young man bends down and picks up a starfish and throws it back into the sea. Eventually the old man says to him “There are so many of them. When the sun is high at noon, they are going to die in the heat. Why do you bother? What difference can you make?”
The young man looks at the starfish in his hand and as he throws it back into the ocean, he says “I can make a difference to this one”
We have seen many positive environmental changes during lockdown and we all need to try to do our bit as life returns to our new normal. It can feel very overwhelming – how can anything I do make a difference?
I think this message says it all – if we all do something, collectively we do make a difference.
Compleat have been reviewing our processes to reduce our impact on the environment.
We can all think global but act local.
Drop me an email with what you do to make a difference – I would love to hear – heather@compleatconference.co.uk
